Meet Ron McCoy: Like a Good Coach… He’ll Push You, Protect You, and Keep It Real
Ron’s been around the block. He’s raised a family, coached youth sports, and helped people build real wealth for decades through his well-respected financial advisory firm Freedom Capital Advisors. He’s not here for the flash or the filters. He’s here to show up, tell you the truth, and have your back when it counts. For a lot of young athletes, he ends up being more than just an advisor… he’s the one they call when life gets real.
“I’ve seen kids blow through a million before they even knew what taxes were. I’m not here to run your life… I’m here to help you keep what you earn and not let anybody take advantage of you. Simple as that.”
A Love for Sports, Rooted in Family
For Ron, sports were never just about the scoreboard. They were about showing up, putting in the work, and being accountable to something bigger than yourself. Those values started at home and continued on the field, where he played ball in high school and later coached his own kids through youth football, Little League, and AAU Baseball.
He’s also the founder of the Windermere Bobcats, a full AAU football program launched in just 5 months in West Orlando with a grant from the NFLPA. At a time when most leagues were full and new families were pouring into the area, Ron along with his family and community, put in the work to give kids a place to play, compete, and grow. Logan played in the program for years, and still remembers watching his dad build it from the ground up, one practice and one kid at a time.
As a father of three and a lifelong competitor, Ron understands the pressure young athletes face. Especially when the spotlight hits early. That’s why he’s passionate about helping them stay grounded, make smart choices, and stay protected. Because for him, this isn’t just business… it’s personal.
The Playbook: Why Ron Built Playmaker Financial
After nearly 40 years in the financial world, Ron had seen the same story play out too many times. Athletes making life-changing money with no real support system, and predators lining up to take advantage of them. When NIL changed the game, it became clear: there was a major gap. Young athletes were being thrown into the deep end with no one teaching them how to swim.
So Ron decided to do something about it.
Playmaker Financial was built to fix what the system wasn’t doing. To give athletes and their families a real Playbook. One focused on protecting their money, helping them navigate the fine print, avoid costly mistakes, and build habits that create real, lasting stability.
This isn’t about pushing products or chasing hype.
It’s about real systems, real education, and real relationships.
Ron’s philosophy is simple:
You don’t rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems.
We’re here to help you build the right ones and stick with you every step of the way.
Why Young Athletes & Their Families Trust Ron
He builds more than portfolios. Ron helps athletes grow the confidence, discipline, and character that outlasts the spotlight.
He’s more than just a money guy. Ron’s a mentor and steady presence who shows up when things get real, not just when it’s convenient.
He’s been through it all. From career highs to personal setbacks, Ron has walked alongside families through the full rollercoaster.
He sees the real risks. He knows the biggest threats aren’t just bad investments. They’re distractions, inexperience, and listening to the wrong people at the wrong time.

Meet Logan McCoy: The Bridge Between generations
Logan McCoy didn’t walk into this world with a script. He showed up with intention. Raised around both financial strategy and locker room grit, Logan co-founded Playmaker Financial to bring something different to the table: genuine connection, long-haul relationships, and no-bullshit mentorship.
“I’ve walked with all kinds of people… athletes, outcasts, rich kids from the suburbs, kids who had nothing and everything in between. The one thing they all had in common? Life hits hard when you don’t have a plan. This world isn’t built to protect you. If you’re not intentional with your moves, someone else will make them for you. I’m here for the ones who want to do it right. The ones who want to play the game with their eyes open.”
Why I’m Here
I’m not here just because I love finance. I’m here because I want to make a difference and I believe financial guidance should be personal, real, and rooted in trust. I’ve seen too many young athletes get blindsided by the system: fast money, bad advice, and no one around who actually has their back.
My goal is to help clients feel protected, informed, and understood…. not just managed. I want to be the guy they can call with the little things and the big ones. Whether it’s reviewing a deal, walking through a major life decision, or just keeping things steady when the pressure hits. I show up, and I stay consistent.
At the end of the day, I want to build long-term relationships with people who know I’m here for more than just numbers. Because when you do things the right way, with the right people, the wins last longer and the setbacks don’t have to break you.
Built Different
I didn’t come up through Wall Street but I also didn’t just come in off the street. I grew up around the markets. My dad’s been in the business since I was born, and a lot of what I know started just by watching him work from home. He wasn’t just a financial advisor, he was my coach on and off the field. He helped me avoid more than a few financial landmines growing up, and that stuck with me. That kind of steady, real-world guidance made a difference in my life and it’s exactly what I want to pass on to the next generation of athletes.
I’ve also lived a life that’s been anything but one-dimensional. From hanging out in neighborhoods where basketball nets were missing to multi-million-dollar homes on the lake in gated neighborhoods, I’ve seen it all. That kind of range gave me something most people don’t have: perspective. And that’s what I bring into every room I walk into.
I’ve got a work ethic rooted in sports, a mindset built on curiosity, and a life full of stories most people never hear unless they’ve lived them. I’ve always been the guy who dives deep, learns fast, and finds a way. Whether it was building engines, remodeling houses, or helping a client with life changing decisions until late hours of the night. I’m all in, Every time.
what I bring to the Table
Relationship-first mindset: I’m not in this to collect clients. I’m in it to build real relationships. That means showing up, earning trust, and sticking around. I’m not here only during the wins, but when life gets hard too.
Real-world experience and expertise across cars, homes, deals, and daily life.
Creative, outside-the-box thinking that isn’t taught in school.
Grounded confidence. I’ll never fake what I don’t know
Long-term commitment. I’m not in this for just a season. I’m building something that will last decades.
A filter for the noise. I’ll help you block out distractions and focus on what matters.
Clear communication. No financial jargon or fake polish.
